To help us move quickly, it’s useful (but not essential) to have:
Your ID number or passport number
Your South African bank account details (where funds will come from)
An estimate of the amount you want to transfer and the currency you need
A sense of the purpose of the payment (e.g. offshore investment, property, education, family support, business payment)
If we require anything further, we’ll contact you directly.

Common questions
Am I opening a new account with Currency Assist?
No. This form collects the information we need to quote, structure and execute your transfer in partnership with Warwick Wealth. You remain a Warwick client, with Currency Assist providing specialist forex services.
Do I have to go ahead once I submit this form?
No. Submitting the form lets us prepare options and contact you. We will only execute a trade once you have agreed to the rate, costs and process.
Will this affect my annual offshore allowances?
Potentially, yes – depending on the amount and structure. Your adviser at Warwick Wealth and our team at Currency Assist will guide you on the best route and ensure the correct reporting is done.
I am not a South African resident, but want to buy an asset in South Africa. How do I ensure I do it correctly?
- If you are buying a property or asset in SA from offshore funds, leave it to us to ensure all the documentation needed to repatriate funds in years to come will be on file.
- Selling a property as a non-resident from SA – disinvesting or repatriating back to your home country, we will work with the property consultant and attorney to ensure we have Exchange Control approval prior to the final account and property transfer
As a South African, what is my annual allowance for forex?
All South Africans can send up to R11million rand offshore annually as part of their SDA (Single Discretionary Allowance) and AIT (Approved International Transfer) limits. We have a dedicated exchange control team to help with Reserve Bank approvals, tax clearances, tax migrations, financial emigrations and executor payments to offshore beneficiaries.
